Advanced configuration reference

Review access-link parameters, page randomization, role mapping, and optional analytics before using them in a study.

Screenshots from the original Surveylet guide illustrate the controls below. Layouts and labels may vary with your survey configuration. Select an image or “View full size” to open it in a new tab.

Use the generated survey URL

Start from the link generated for your own survey in Survey Access. Preserve its account and survey identifiers. Append only the required options and encode parameter values correctly. Do not copy another study’s worked URL or change private link tokens.

ParameterDocumented purpose
as=1Bypass the registration landing page in the applicable access flow.
fullname / email / usernameSupply a name, email, or unique user identifier. Individual identifiers must not be shared across the panel.
hidename=1 / hideemail=1Hide those fields on the registration page. Hiding a field is not the same as High survey privacy.
sendmail=noSuppress the automatic invitation email in the applicable registration flow.
shqtr=1Open the questionnaire immediately after registration in the documented flow.
language=ENSet the registration/user language; use the supported language code.
gotopage=lastReturn to the last visited page for a supported individual link.
lblheader, lblmessage, lblname, lblemail, lblstartCustomize registration labels. Encode spaces and special characters.
clearcookies=1Clear identity cookies for registration testing. Do not add it to a normal return link without checking the effect.

A URL containing a participant identifier may expose that value in browser history or logs. For externally distributed direct links, prefer unique random identifiers when your protocol allows them. Test link behavior before distribution.

Navigation and role mapping

Page-block randomization uses pgrnd, lastpgrnd, and optionally forcesavebtndisplay=1. See randomization instructions.

The documented role-mapping instruction follows this pattern:

type=stakeholdergroupselection|targetkpi=YourGroupKPI|targetkpichoicerank=1

Create the demographic KPI and target grouping question first, then map each role to the correct target choice position. Verify every mapping using saved test answers. The target group question can be hidden from participants.

Optional analytics and weighting

External Metrics can supply time-series KPI data for optional Advanced Analytics. Confirm the required date format with Calibrum before importing. Mark negative-direction KPIs where a higher value is unfavorable.

For supported matrices, Weighting Column Rank identifies a Likert column used to weight another column, for example confidence weighting impact. The column rank is a reference to the source column, not a sample-size weight. Confirm the intended formula and validate a known dataset before use.

Custom CSS and JavaScript

Prefer the built-in question, display, and branching settings where they meet the requirement. Custom scripts can change validation, navigation, saving, and feedback; test them after changes to the questionnaire or theme.

The documented editor workflow places scripts in the Style Sheet field by closing the style block, adding the script, and reopening the style block. Have Calibrum review a custom implementation if it affects study logic or data collection. Store the exact customization with the study configuration.
